Why is strength so important?
Physical strength is the ability to complete physical tasks using your own strength, so it is a foundational element of physical performance. For athletes, the type of strength that is important depends upon the sport or sports that you participate in. Improving strength helps the athlete improve performance, increase endurance and prevent injury.
Unfortunately, as we age we lose physical strength so even for the non-athlete, improving strength is an important factor in maintaining good health as well as being able to continue to participate in normal everyday activities.

Why does nutrition matter?
Health experts agree that proper nutrition is vitally important to overall fitness. Some research even suggests that nutrition has the largest impact on our fitness. At first thought, this might seem like an unexpected finding, but the food we eat is the fuel which provides the energy the body needs to perform. What you eat and when has a big impact on your overall energy level as well as how well you recover.
Carbohydrates, fat and protein are all nutrients that contribute to your energy needs during exercise, but carbohydrates are the body’s preferred energy source. Fat is a secondary source of energy while protein is needed more for building and repairing muscle.
Proper nutrition needs vary depending upon the given sport or activity. For example, proper nutrition for strength training is different than that of long distance running. Weightlifting requires more protein to support muscle building and repair while the long distance runner needs a higher percentage of carbs to maintain proper energy level to perform at one’s best. Remote coaching requires discipline. You must be dedicated to becoming better, have good communication skills, follow directions exactly, and commit to sending your lifting videos for every workout.
